As Bob Hoskins said in an advertising campaign for BT in the 90’s “it’s good to talk“
With technology what it is we have these mini computers in our pockets that we can search for things, take photos, share photos, send a message instantly. But are
we really having a conversation or is
it just words?
Over the last few weeks during lockdown we’ve all been communicating more, but with a lack of physical human presence how has this changed?
I’m talking to people more and more by calling them - hearing someone’s voice brings presence to the conversation. Without a doubt we’re all video calling more - who’d have thought we’d be able to do that from the palm of our hand and for free?
This last week I’ve actually spoken to
or video called with people I haven’t spoken to in a long time and it’s been great to catch up - thanks Ann, Ted and
Ger. Living on my own these conversations have been a lifeline for my emotional wellbeing.
Imagine for a moment if this pandemic had happened in 2000 as we’re all sat playing snake on our Nokia 3310 and no internet in our hands and no social media. We’d be calling people.
Who haven’t you really heard from in a while? Give them a call or a video call. You might just make their day.
